Russian Grain Union sees 2019 grain harvest at 120 mln tns
MOSCOW, Jan 29 (PRIME) – Russia will harvest 120 million tonnes of grain in 2019 if the weather conditions are favorable, with wheat accounting for 75–76 million tonnes, Russian Grain Union President Arkady Zlochevsky said at a news conference on Tuesday.
“Nevertheless, we expect an increase (on the year as compared with 2018). We think that grain will be harvested from a larger area, and judging by condition of winter crops and if the weather is good, we will be able to harvest more than 120 million tonnes,” he said, adding that the wheat harvest may amount to 75–76 million tonnes this year.
On Monday, Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev told President Vladimir Putin that the ministry forecasts Russia’s grain harvest to amount to 108–110 million tonnes in 2019, including 67 million tonnes of wheat.
